Snow, Oh Joy
Well it snowed here yesterday only very lightly but for several hours so we are now snowed in, as our lane does not get gritted or ploughed.
Here are a few photos of what I woke up to this morning.
Ive added some photos of the same views on a normal day the front gates are to the left of the wall and tree in the second photo, i couldnt find one looking through the gates.
We are about 3/4 of the way up a very quiet no through lane so have an elevated position and from our loung and sun room at the back of the house we look out over our village.
You can see in this mornings photo there is a mist/fog hanging over the village below us in the third photo.
Oaty Biscuits
A friend of mine gave me this recipe for oaty biscuits so I decided I would make them this morning.
Here is the receipe if you want to try them out.
Flour 9.5 oz
Margarine 8.0 oz
Sugar 5.0 oz
Oats 2.5 oz
Syrup 2.0 oz
You could add more syrup which would make them more chewy, but they are fine as they are.
Mix sugar and margarine add all other ingredients and mix well
spoon out onto a baking try (i lined mine with baking paper) cook for 13 mins
I used a teaspon to spoon out my mixture and it made 30 biscuits.
Handcream Pouch
Well this is my first project of 2012. I have contributed money to a give for someone but I wanted to give them a little something from me personally.
So I have made a little pouch to hold a L’Occeitane hand cream, it has felt lining and is made from Clarke & Clarke fabric. I will make a gift box and card too.
Happy New Year
Well this is my first post of 2012 and I thought I would just wish you all Happy New Year.
I hope you all had a peaceful and safe Christmas.
I do not have any projects on the go at the moment but once the Christmas decorations are all packed away for another year I hope to get back into the swing of things and start making again.
Christmas Wishes
I thought I would do a quick post to say that I hope everyone has had a peaceful Christmas and show you one of the gifts I received from my daughter, its all handmade.
Printed with fabric inks onto a gold silk type fabric, stuffed and all hand sewn and the back is a slate grey silk.
This has been made at school with the help of teachers and such a lovely thoughtful gift.

Peppermint Creams
My daughter and I have made peppermint creams for her friends at school. We made our mixture and divided it into two and used a couple of drops of pink colouring in one lot and green in the other.
My Daughter rolled out the mixture and cut the shapes.

I cut Labels from blue card using the Pazzles Inspiration and then I cut slightly smaller labels in white card and used the Pazzles to write ‘To’ and ‘From’ on them and all she had to do was fill in the name and decorate.
Makeup Brushroll
I saw this idea on ‘The DIY Dish’ and made one but I wasn’t sure about it having wadding inside. Here’s the link to the video
I have made another to my own measurements and left out the wadding and I prefer this design.
So now I have to make another and these will be added to the gifts I have bought for my Nieces for Christmas.
Pot Holder/Oven Mitt
We have a Neff double oven and the grill pan in the top oven is the width of the oven so its big and heavy and doesn’t have a handle for lifting it in and out, so when I saw this tutorial from Crafty Gemini on You Tube I knew I had to make one.

Ive made mine from fabric I bought in Ikea the red is ‘Lenda’ and check lining is ’Berta Ruta’ but instead of turning the short edges as shown in the video I hemmed mine with red bias binding and I added a little hanging hook so it can hang on the oven door.
The Insul-bright I bought off the internet and it really works no hot or burnt hands this morning when I was toasting mini pancakes for breakfast.
Here’s the video tutorial.
Walking Frame Tidy
OK Ive made this little pouch tidy to hang on my father in laws walking frame, so he can keeps his glasses and pen etc in it to hand.
Its approximately 9.5 inch wide so has two pockets of about 4×6 inch and a pen section of about 1.5×6
You cannot see in the photo but the top is folded over and fastens about 5inches down on velcro so it can go over the handlebars on his frame and I have added ribbon on the side to fastens to the legs of the frame to keep it stable, well thats the theory!
